Its so common now an days to use profound language, language that u know you wouldn't say to your parents or your boss in a workplace or somewhere/to someone that is of high importance to you. You wouldn't use the language around someone you first meet, but as you get to know them, you come out of that shell and the nice you slowly turns into the real you with profanity, cussing, any vulgar language that you would not say during a first impression which to me its either being fake to an extent or just getting a little too comfortable.
For parents, if you cuss and you catch your kids doing it and you beat them, your easily a hypocrite. Your just as wrong as the child is for doing that. There should be no "do as I say, not as I do" attitude. Did Jesus have this attitude?! never! He lead by example, not as "do as I say, not as I do".....
Allow me to refer to scripture from the Bible for help on what it is im trying to say: Ephesians 5:4 "Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talking nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be Thanksgiving." 2 Timothy 2:16- "But avoid irrelevant babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness" Ephesians 4:29- "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those that hear" James 3:7- "And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell." James 3:10- "From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so." Psalms 10:7- "His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity."
WOULD U SAY CUSS WORDS IN FRONT OF JESUS??
Peer pressure, popular movies, and most of today's TV in a way are responsible for causing society to accept cursing and foul language as a norm/standardized thing to watch and hear. Cussing is generally used to degrade people or show extreme emotion towards someone or something that has happened. If we are to be like Jesus, our Lord and Savior, then children, young adults and even adults should not use the language.
Im sure we all know the basic, typical cuss words like d***, a**, etc. so I won't go into that. We often like to abbreviate and hide cuss words, like saying LMAO, LMMFAO, LLS, WTF, FML, ROFLMAO, LMFAO, the list goes on. I also think that LMBO is a form of a cuss word, or as they call it "shoot cussin", which means to say a word meaning the same as the cuss word but not actually cussing but others don't think so, your replacing the A with the B and both mean the same exact thing when being used but if u choose to use it, do you. Im just not gonna use it. I like to keep it at "LOL" if its really funny and "lol" if its a little funny. I look at it as what's the difference, just keep it simple and your mouth positive.
Also, another thing that the Bible refers to as cussing is using God's name in vain, out of context, so saying God D***, Holy S***, Lordy, any type of swearing, the list goes on and on.
As Christians, we should speak with substance and not emptiness, cussing shows immaturity, it blocks opportunities, shows insecurity and you lack vocabulary. Its highly unnecessary but seeing as we are surrounded by society who uses these words "normally" we've adapted them into our speaking. If you have people that u know do this, I recommend talking to them about it or showing them this blog, I used to be a cussing machine and a lot of times, it was out of frustration and emotion but eliminating people who did cuss, and bought negative vibes around me, I had to let them go, also, what u look at will also cause you to cuss or at least think about it. Slowly but surely, after about a year, I've stopped cussing and if I can do it, anybody who wants to stop can do it too. Set an example for those around you, being righteous is contagious and if people apologize after they cuss around you, I feel it means they wanna stop but they just can't or dont have the motivation and dedication to.
